Living With Diabetes Type 2

There are many types of diabetes. The popular one is diabetes type 2 since it suffered by many people. It is reported that almost 90% of diabetics suffer from type 2. American Diabetes Association confirmed that 6.2 million people do not even realize they have the disease, while over 2200 cases are diagnosed for this disease each day.

Like all common diabetes type, type 2 does not produce specific symptoms. Symptoms and signs are often subtle and similar to other health problems. Most patients with this type are diagnosed at 50 years old or more. The symptoms of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are very similar. Type 1 and type 2 can distinguish based on the age of diabetes diagnosis and the need for insulin.

The common symptoms of type 2 include excessive thirst, persistent fatigue, being easy to irritate, blurred vision and frequent urination. The patient also experiences rapid weight loss and gum infection. Many patients do not realize that they have diabetes until years because it shows no symptoms in the first stage. There is a long-time period of delay between the disease onset and diagnosis, which has 5 to 8 years range.

Research still does not reveals the cause of this disease. But it seems individuals with diabetes type 2 develop the disease through a combination of genetics, poor diet and lack of exercise. It is an advanced stage of diabetes because it grows from insulin resistance. The body becomes immune to the effects of insulin because of excessive production in the body.

Diabetes type 2 can be managed with healthy lifestyles such as proper diet and exercise. Over 90 % of patient with this disease can keep their weight in an average size and live well through a combination of intensive diet and exercise. They are doing these exercises regularly, especially if your body begins showing signs of diabetes.

And another thing to know, treatment like insulin injection can continue only if the patients have restored their insulin sensitivity.
